Awww…. I’m so very delighted to have won my first blogging award; The Sunshine Award!
I have to confess, as a newbie to the blogging world I didn’t know what this award was, so looked it up ~ apparently it is:
An award is passed on by bloggers to fellow bloggers who “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.”
How absolutely lovely is that?! I was nominated by Natural Fuel; which is even more lovely as Rowena’s a pretty cool lady – thank you so much Miss! :)
I am quadruply chuffed as – one, I didn’t know there were such lovely awards out there; two, I only started blogging a few months ago; three, it’s *really lovely* to get some feedback and to know that peeps out there like what I’m writing and four, I can stop asking the cats if they think what I’m writing works… ;-)
Learning A Little More
Each person who gets an award is asked to answer this series of questions, so that others may know a little more about us… here goes!
- Where would you most like to travel to?
Ooh, gosh – good question! Although it never appealed when I was younger, I would love to visit India now… they say you get called to India through the heart – and it’s definitely calling me now! Closer to home I would also love to visit Italy…
- Do you have a sweet tooth?
Hahahahahahahaha!! This question is genius! Erm… yes! Oh, the ironies of life… ;-)
- What motivates you to keep you blogging?
Days like this :-)
In all honesty I think it’s a combination of wanting to help others, and it helping me… I have a very “busy” mind, and blogging helps me to process things. Plus, if I can dust a little bit of hope or motivation into others lives along the way, what’s not to keep me going…
- Who is your favorite comedian?
Ooo…. either Russell Brand or Michael McIntyre – depending on my mood. Russell gets a bit ranty sometimes… but I do love him.
- What is your favorite outdoor activity?
If it’s sunny; anything! I absolutely love being outdoors – though must confess to being a fair weather gal!
- Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Hmm… do they have to be past tense? I’ve been really lucky to meet, and still know, soooo many amazingly awesome teachers and movers and shakers. Possibly one of the most poignant memories was when I was first learning about the power of our wonderful minds; and a Tai Chi teacher and I were having a cup of tea after class… I was sharing my frustrations about life – and she said to me “just change it then” ~ at the time, internally, I thought she just didn’t get it; it really stung… but I realised afterwards why it stung so much – because she was speaking the truth.
The other brilliant conversation I had was with a meditation teacher, was when he shared a metaphor about life… he said;
“imagine you are with some friends, and you’re conducting a survey at the side of the road for the number of white cars that go past… then imagine, as you’re all casually standing there, Nadia leaps onto the back of one of the passing cars, and manages to grab hold of the bumper… she’s now being dragged down the road, clinging onto the bumper for dear life, her clothes getting torn and arms and legs getting scratched ~ she turns back to the group and shouts ‘it’s really hurting; help!’ – to which, everyone turns to each other in dismay and one of the group shouts back: ‘JUST LET GO!!’“
~ even relaying that today still gives me goosebumps, and I still think of both conversations whenever I get stuck in some funk or other.
- Do you own any pets?
Yes, two gorgeous furies called Pickle & Pepper ~ but they own me really ;-)
- Most embarrassing moment in your life? ( That you are willing to share.)
Oh good god; which one?! Possibly one of the worst was in the early days of emails, when I wrote a rather “amorous” reply to a group email invite that my boyfriend had sent me… I didn’t understand the ‘reply all’ function – oh, the comments and laughs I got from all his guy friends at said party…. !
- Where are you from?
Another interesting question! I was born in Wales, but neither of my parents are Welsh – my mum’s Scottish and my dad’s Arabic – and I’ve never really had a complete sense of “home”… I guess that’s why I’m a little bit nomadic and chameleon-like by nature…
- How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
Possibly the most random question I’ve ever been asked?!? Well, in the spirit of this blog – as much as he wanted to… :-)
Paying it forwards
Part of receiving the award means I now get to spread the sunshine love to ten other bloggers who I find sprinkle my day with little rays of sunshine… those peeps are:
- Ask Lauren
- Sambodha Health and Wellness
- SugarFree Sweetheart
- RavenStarHealingRoom’s Blog
- Atma Lounge Blog Spot
- The Raw Chef
- We Can Be Kind
- Bikram Bristol, Highbury & Islington
And a bonus few that may be too “established”, but whom I can’t not mention if I’m writing about blogs that help me smile on less sunny days… :)
T’is over to you guys, if you would like to post your award, answer the same questions as me above, and pay forward your sunny ten then that would be lovely; either way, thank you for bringing sunshine into my life, and thank you again Rowena at Natural Fuel for a very unexpected lil heatwave!
Many sunshine filled kisses to you sweet peeps xo
